Gwendolyn Allen Farver
Gwendolyn Allen Farver, 93 years old of Brocton, New York passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Chautauqua County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. She was born to Merle and Mary Vaughn Allen on August 2, 1924 in New Castle Pennsylvania. She graduated from Comptometer School and worked as a Bookkeeper until beginning her family.
Gwen married Paul Farver on August 12, 1949 in New Castle, Pa and together they raised five children. Gwen was a homemaker who loved sewing and making clothing. She did cross stitch, red work, embroidery crocheting and made many quilts. She was a member of the Pulaski Quilt Club and for six years ran the Farver Knit shop which sold knit fabrics by the pound.
Besides her husband of 68 years Paul Farver of Brocton, New York she is survived by her five children Ernest (Priscilla) Farver of Mayville, New York, Thomas (Debbie) Farver of Hamden, Conn., John (Margaret ) Farver of Holland, Ohio, Alice (Randy) Wilder of Tucson, Arizona and Kathleen (James) Southwick of Kennedy, New York, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brother DuWayne, Donald and William and one sister Marian.
There will be a Memorial Service to Celebrate Gwen's life on Friday July 6, 2018 at 12 noon at the Brocton Baptist Church, 33 W Main Street, in Brocton, New York. The Rev. Larry Morrison will officiate. Gwen will be interred at Castleview Memorial Gardens in New Castle Pa. After the Service everyone is invited to come to Paul's home to talk and eat with family and friends at their annual Farver July Fourth Reunion at his house. Arrangements are being provided by the Morse Funeral Home of Brocton, New York.
