James Craig, 73 years old, of Brocton, New York passed away late Wednesday evening, June 13, 2018 at Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa. after a lengthy illness. Jim was born on September 29, 1944 in Dunkirk, New York to the late Jessie and Ethelyne Van Etten Craig. During his youth he resided in Miami, Florida where he graduated from High School and from there joined the United States Navy and served our country in the Vietnam War. Upon returning to our area and Brocton, New York, he was employed as the Service Manager for the former Chevrolet Dealership in Westfield, New York. After that he became the Judge for 17 years serving the Town of Portland and the Village of Brocton. He belonged to the American Legion John W Dill Post 434 of Brocton, New York and was a former member of the Brocton, Fire Dept. Besides his wife and family he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and traveling.
James is survived by his wife of 53 years Barbara Craig of Brocton, New York, one son James F (Ann) Craig of Chambersburg, Pa and two daughters, Jaclyn (Adam Fuller) Craig of Fredonia, New York and Sherry Northrup of Westfield, New York, seven grandchildren Kennedy Kujawa, Olivia Craig, James Northrup, Casey Northrup, Harris Blizzard, Madeline Craig and Blake Craig-Fuller. He was preceded in death by three sisters Avis Sprague, Shelia Lus, and Joyce Blodgett and one brother Jessie Craig.
The will be no visitation and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later time and at the convenience of the family.
