Mary Presto, age 100, of Brocton passed away at her residence Friday morning, Dec. 8, 2017. She was born Nov. 7, 1917 in Heilwood, Pennsylvania to the late Eugene and Maria Bellando, and was a resident of this area most of her life. She graduated from Brocton Central School, Class of 1936, and was a member of the girls basketball team.
She worked at Kling Furniture and General Electric during World War II, making parts for planes. She retired from the former Red Wing Company in Fredonia.
For many years, she served as Election Inspector for the village of Brocton, town of Portland, and the Brocton School District.
She was a member of St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Patrick’s Church, and the Senior Citizens of Brocton and Portland. Her former memberships include: the Brocton Firemen’s Auxliary, the American Legion, and the Give and Take Club.
She loved sports, traveling, bingo, and being with her family.
Mary is survived by her 2 sons: Carl Presto of Westfield and Terry (Susan) Presto of Brocton. Grandchildren: Kevin (Michelle) Presto of Westfield, Brandon Presto of Westfield, Shawn Presto of Florida, Stephanie (Greg) Humm, Ashleigh Presto both of Colorado, and Joshua Cheverez of Dunkirk. Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Philip Presto, who died in 1966. Her brothers John Bellando and Robert Bellando and her sisters Thelma Parisio, Elizabeth Marx and infant sister Mary Bellando.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial that will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at 1 p.m., in St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Romeo Huntiveros officiating. Interment will follow in Portland Evergreen Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by the Morse Funeral Home.
