Violet Colt, 74 years old of Portland, New York passed away at St. Mary's Home of Erie Pennsylvania early Tuesday morning June 14, 2016 after an extended illness. Violet was born in Washington, Pa. on August 18, 1941 to the late Harold and Betty Bane Jones. She had been a lifelong resident of this area and was a Nursing School Graduate. She worked for the Shoreline Farms of Westfield, New York for many years and had at one time worked as a short order cook for the Chuck Wagon. She was an axillary member of the American Legion John W Dill Post 434 of Brocton, New York. Besides her family Violet loved Bingo, Karaoke, Bowling, Painting, Arts and Crafts, Gardening and especially loved growing her own roses.
Violet is survived by her loving husband Albert whom she married October 11, 1958. Two daughters Valeria (Barbara) Colt of Fort Mead Maryland and Beth (Brenda) Deck of Monroe, North Carolina, one son Roy (Lisa) Colt of Westfield, New York, three granddaughters and three great-granddaughters,
one sister Patty Churray of Portland, New York. Besides her parents she was predeceased by one son Albert Colt Jr. who passed away in 1984.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 pm on June 17, 2016 from the Morse Funeral Home in Brocton, New York, Rev. Larry Morrison of the Brocton Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at the Portland Evergreen Cemetery in Portland New York. Friends are invited to call at the Morse Funeral Home 51 Highland Ave. Brocton, New York from 11am to 2pm on Friday June 17, 2016 prior to the 2pm service.
