Rudolph E. (Rudy) Aynardi, age 87, of Portland, NY died Wednesday May 4, 2016 at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk. He was born in Aliquippa PA. July 19, 1928 to the late Silvio and Maria (Tonda) Aynardi. The Aynardi family moved to Portland in 1939. Rudy graduated from Brocton Central HS in 1946. A US Army veteran, he served in the occupation force in Japan in 1947 & 48. He studied photography in Boston and was a career portrait photographer for Wilmack Photographers, first in Boston, then later in Buffalo. Additionally, he was a member of National Grape Cooperative and ran the family’s grape farm in Portland. He was a member of the American Legion, The Loyal Order of the Moose, and Westfield Fish and Game Club. He also enjoyed such things as gardening, wine making and making applesauce. Rudy reminisced of his travels including hiking up Mt. Fuji in Japan, attending the St. Louis “Shakespeare in the Park” summer series, and touring the grape vineyards of eastern Washington. Rudolph is survived by his brother, Leonard Aynardi of St. Louis MO.; three nephews; David, Matt and Tim Aynardi all of Seattle WA. He was also survived by ifelong family friend Ann Wood and her sons; Larry, Edward, Thomas and Timothy. Rudy was predeceased by his sister Anna Aynardi. He attended St Patrick’s Church of Brocton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Rudi on Saturday May14, 2016 at 10 am. The Rev Joseph Walter will officiate. Memorial Services will take place at Portland Evergreen Cemetery and will be announced at a later date. Family suggests memorials be made to. Ahira Hall Memorial Library. 37 W. Main St. P.O.
