Phyllis Anne Matteson (Sosinski) died January 20, 2016 at the age of 62 following a lengthy illness. She was born February 27, 1953 in Dunkirk, NY to the late Caroline Sosinski and Stanley Sosinski. A lifetime resident of the Dunkirk Fredonia area, Phyllis graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1971. She married Lucious Matteson on October 23, 1993.
Her caring and nurturing personality shown through in her work at the Chautauqua County Home and Brooks Hospital where she was a nurse's aide. A caregiver in every sense, she was a great friend to the patients she worked with, and she truly enjoyed getting to know each one as she accompanied them to appointments in her most recent position.
Phyllis was an avid bargain hunter, who loved shopping Zulily sales and local antique shops where she couldn't pass up a good deal. You could often find her in the middle of refinishing a piece of furniture or redecorating a room of her home with her bargain finds. She loved spending time with her family in their Fredonia home; hosting holiday gatherings and family dinners.
She is survived by her husband Lucius, her daughters Lisa(John)Zambotti and Michelle(Jeremy) Bouton and her husband's children Tina Novelli, Patrice(Joe) Rollings, Karen (Dennis) Hoyt and Jeff(Diane)Novelli. She is also survived by her beloved twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters Janice (Steve)Zeyack and Sandra (Michael) Barras, and one brother Stanley Sosinski.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours this Saturday January 23, 2016 from 1pm-2pm with a Memorial Service to follow at two in the afternoon at the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave in Brocton, New York.
