Joanne Cecelia Cave, 86 years old of Brocton, New York passed away with her family at her side, late Wednesday afternoon, June 3, 2015 at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk, New York after a lengthy illness. She was born in Dunkirk, New York on June 18, 1928 the daughter of the late Newton and Ruth Bowlby Huntley. She has been a Brocton resident most of her life and after retirement, Joanne was also a winter resident of Florida.
Joanne was a graduate of the Fredonia Central School District and a graduate of Fredonia State University's Education Department and she also earned her Masters Degree at SUNY Fredonia. Joanne was retired and a very well respected and loved 3rd grade school teacher for the Brocton Central School District for over 30 years. After her retirement from her long career as a schoolteacher she enjoy many things such as reading, spending time with her family and watching game shows. Even as her health declined she still enjoyed sitting with the family and shouting out answers to Jeopardy.
She is survived by one daughter Paula Cave of Brocton, New York, two sons
Michael Cave of Brocton, New York and Mark (Jodi) Cave of Brocton, New York. Five Grandchildren Eric Cave, Erin Quattrone, Colin Cave, Justin (Val) Thomas and Carrie Cave. And five precious great-grandsons: Reece, Geoffrey, Lyric, Liam and Damian. She will be also sadly missed by her four legged friends Lacey, Zak and Zoey.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Paul who passed away December 13, 2009, Daughter-in law Shari Cave and two brothers Hubbard and Newton Huntley.
There will be no prior visitation, A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements were provided by the Morse Funeral Home of Brocton, New York.
