Cheryl Lou Spiller, 67 years old, of Portland New York, passed away early Wednesday morning November 18, 2015 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania, after an extended illness. Cheryl was born in Jamestown, New York on June 21, 1948 and was the daughter of the late James DeHaven and Lois Mae Dunning DeHaven of Mayville, New York. Cheryl lived in this area her entire life. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School after which she attended the Buffalo School of The Bible and also took courses at D'Youville College. She was the former Pastoral Director of Christian Education in Orchard Park at The Tabernacle. She was a member of The Portland Congregational Church, of Portland, New York. Besides loving her family and all her grandchildren Cheryl always had a great love of and enjoyed working with children.
Cheryl is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years Gordon Spiller, one daughter Mrs. Ginger (Robert) Johnson Of Bemus Point, New York, four sons; Rev James Spiller of Sheridan New York, Jonathan (Kris) Spiller of Fairbanks, Alaska, Joshua (Kerri) Spiller of Portland, New York and Jason (Amanda) Spiller of Colorado Springs, Colorado, nine grandchildren, she is also survived by her mother Lois Mae DeHaven of Mayville, New York, two brothers Darrell (Yvonne) DeHaven of Westfield, New York and Daniel (Judy) DeHaven of Bemus Point, New York, one sister Mrs. Sandra (Robert) Leon of Jamestown New York, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her father she was predeceased by an infant son Jeromé Spiller.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning November 21, 2015 at 11 am from the Portland Congregational Church 8649 Church St. Portland, New York. Rev. Gordon Spiller and family will officiate. Interment will be private. Friends are invited to call at the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave. Brocton, New York on Friday, November 20, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Memorials in her memory may be made to the Portland Congregational Church.
